Podcast Debut: Kat Downs Mulder livestream interview

December 29, 2022 by Michael O'Connell

It’s All Journalism celebrates the end of the year with two special episodes featuring two of our favorite conversations from 2022.

In this episode, It’s All Journalism host Michael O’Connell talks to Kat Downs Mulder, the former chief production officer and managing editor at The Washington Post. In that role, she led a team that specialized in identifying opportunities to improve the Post’s products in order to grow its business.

Kat Downs Mulder is the former chief product officer and managing editor at The Washington Post. In December, she joined Yahoo News a senior vice president and general manager.

This interview originally aired Feb. 24, 2022 as a Facebook Live Event to commemorate our podcast’s 500th episode. Although the video of our interview with Kat was available on Facebook Live, the audio has not been released before as a podcast. While some may see this as a “rerun,” it’s actually the podcast debut of a past interview — that’s our story and we’re sticking to it.

Since we last spoke to Kat, she has changed jobs. In December, Kat left The Washington Post and to become a senior vice president and the general manager at Yahoo News. We wish her the best of luck in her new role.

Coming Next Week: Stick around to the end of the podcast to hear about next week’s special year-end episode.
